Domestic Violence and Fair HousingSurvivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking have protections under both Oregon and Washington’s landlord-tenant laws (Oregon: ORS Chapter 90; Washington RCW 59.18). These state laws make clear it is illegal to discriminate against a domestic violence survivor. In 2011 HUD also issued nationwide guidance stating when they will view discrimination against domestic violence survivors as a form of gender discrimination under the Fair Housing Act.
