In coordination with Metro Multifamily Housing Association (MMHA), we're again offering our ever popular Fasten Your Seat Belts: It’s Been a Bumpy Ride bus tour for MMHA members and the general public on April 13th. Preregister for this event with MMHA (see flyer for details).

This year we have focused efforts on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)-funded jurisdictions and their requirement to affirmatively further fair housing given recent landmark CDBG cases around the country.

We will host Michael Allen, the attorney would brought the prominent Westchester County, NY case on April 28th to discuss the change in climate and expectations for CDBG-funded jurisdictions as a proactive way of helping those communities within our service area be sure they’re meeting these standards. We’re also offering our ever-popular Fasten Your Seat Belts: It’s Been a Bumpy Ride bus tour in connection with the Michael Allen event for CDBG governmental staff. CDBG government staff may register at www.FHCO.org/event_reg.htm. There are further details on the event at www.FHCO.org/CDBGevent.htm.

This year we were thrilled to have the support of the Regional Multiple Listing Service (RMLS) and the Housing Authority of Yamhill County (HAYC) in spreading the word about our annual Poster Contest (www.FHCO.org/contest.htm).

You can read about the friendly competition RMLS invited its members to engage in and the three Realtors(R) whose selected school received $100 for art supplies to use toward Fair Housing Month poster contest submissions at http://rmlsweb.wordpress.com/2011/03/02/

Similarly, the HAYC hosted four children’s poster workshops during which they touched on the importance ofboth federal and state fair housing laws. You can read about the workshops and see the children's artwork at http://fhco.org/pdfs/news/
