This online session is a free, two-hour Know Your Rights training, where tenants will learn about Fair Housing protections for people applying with criminal histories and for families and renters using subsidies. Participants will learn what landlords can—and cannot—consider when screening applicants and practical strategies to overcome barriers and self-advocate with potential landlords. The course also covers fair housing protections for families with children, rights of Section 8/HCV and other subsidy holders, and how to recognize and respond to discrimination in rental housing.

Southern Oregon Goodwill welcomes all community members to participate in this Fair Housing Education Session. For anyone who needs access to reliable technology, our onsite Job Connection computer labs are available for use at no cost. These labs offer:

  • Desktop computers with high‑speed internet
  • Quiet workspaces for attending virtual training
  • Staff available to provide basic computer assistance
  • Accommodations such as larger monitors, adjustable seating, and accessible stations
  • Interpretation supports available with advanced notice.

If participants need additional support to fully engage in the training, they are encouraged to contact their local Job Connection Center or their GoodWorks Coach so we can ensure the right accommodations are in place.
