Fair Housing Classes for Housing Providers

FHCO offers training for rental owners, property management companies, home owner association boards & managers, public housing authorities, nonprofit housing providers and real estate professionals. Collectively our trainers have more than 20 years of experience in fair housing education, and are certified as Master Trainers by the Association of Training and Development. Our trainers are affiliated with the National Fair Housing Alliance and stay current on recent changes in the laws, relevant HUD rulings and case law.  

Fundamentals of Fair Housing-4 hours

This class is a comprehensive analysis of fair housing law and common challenges. We tailor the training to the needs of your organization and incorporate a variety of training techniques including scenario analysis and interactive activities such as Fair Housing Jeopardy.

  • Protected classes under federal, state and local laws

  • Illegal transactions that occur throughout the rental or sales process

  • When neighbor-on-neighbor harassment becomes a fair housing issue

  • Fair housing issues related to families with children: occupancy standards, rules, etc.

  • Understanding what “disparate impact” means in fair housing

  • A basic overview of the reasonable accommodation process for individuals with disabilities

Advanced Fair Housing: Reasonable Accommodations in Focus-4 hours

This class examines each stage of responding to reasonable accommodation and modification requests from residents and applicants with disabilities. The training is limited to groups that have completed Fair Housing Fundamentals or the equivalent. Issues addressed include assistance animals, care givers and hoarding. The class uses in depth scenario analysis and review of relevant case law.

Fair Housing Jeopardy or Bingo

This fun and challenging interactive game invites participants to put on their thinking caps and competitive spirits to test their fair housing knowledge. Questions can be modified for a range of groups. The game is followed by Q &A and prizes!
