FHCO would like to introduce our newest education and outreach team member, Michelle Scott. In a unique partnership, Michelle works part time for FHCO and also for Klamath & Lake Community Action Services, a local non-profit Community Action Agency (CAA), where she has worked since 2008.
At Klamath & Lake Community Action Services, Michelle manages the Homeownership Center programs and is certified in Housing Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, Financial Capabilities and Homeownership & Community Lending. Michelle is passionate in strengthening and educating families with financial literacy, consumer protection, and fair housing topics to promote self-sufficiency.
As part of FHCO’s strategic planning process, it became apparent that to effectively further our mission to end housing discrimination throughout the state, having part time staff embedded at partner agencies is an effective strategy. As part of her role for FHCO, Michelle works in Southern Oregon to educate housing consumers, advocates, and housing providers about Fair Housing law.
Michelle is a Klamath Falls native. She resides in the small, rural town of Bonanza; 26 miles east of Klamath Falls. She loves living in Southern Oregon and has an appreciation for its beautiful surroundings from the high desert countryside to lush to green valleys.
She and her husband enjoy traveling, especially to the Pacific coastline. They have five grown children and nine grandchildren, spending much of their free time visiting them in Portland, Springfield, and Bryan, Texas. They also share a love of gardening together.Michelle can be contacted by email: mscott@klcas.org
