In this training, we’ll explore the ways in which the “white moderate” that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. warned us about over 50 years ago shows up all around us at the local and national levels. We’ll connect this to the white supremacy culture of today, and take a deeper look into the mechanisms of white supremacy and how they play out in communities and organizations.

David Kennedy-Wong comes to FHCO with experience as a high school math and science teacher, an equity specialist for a social services nonprofit, as well as doing contract-based equity work. He has volunteered with various community organizations in Portland—serving on nonprofit boards, teaching bike mechanics, and organizing a divestment campaign—agitating for racial and social justice every step of the way. In his free time, David enjoys riding his bike out of the city and into the hills, building things, and hammocking under trees.
