January 2022

Since November 1990, the Fair Housing Council of Oregon has promoted justice, equity, and inclusion in housing. Over the past year, and in the coming year, we continue to significantly increase our presence throughout Oregon. We have added additional staff on the ground across the state and built partnerships with front-line organizations in every region to deliver trainings, conduct outreach, and respond to complaints of housing discrimination statewide.

Our commitment to protect the housing rights of everyone in Oregon is greatly enhanced by this expanded presence throughout the state. I want to thank all our partners, donors, fair housing advocates, and other community members who support our work and make access to these extended resources possible.

Partnerships with impacted community groups are critical in our work to eliminate housing discrimination in every community across Oregon. Our partners are creating and launching projects that further fair housing and increase access to housing for the most-impacted community members.

We know that safe and stable housing is about more than just having a roof over our heads. Housing connects us to job opportunities, education, health care, family, and the broader community. But what happens when you cannot find stable housing because of your race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, disability status, or another part of your identity? That’s where we come in. In the enclosed impact report, you will find examples of our work to increase access to fair housing resources supporting communities across the state.

Our work throughout Oregon continues to reflect our organization’s deep commitment to racial justice. We are examining the role race and identity play in the ways in which we serve communities, we remain committed to better resourcing Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities of color, and we continue to focus resources on the most-impacted communities.

For more than 30 years, we have worked to eliminate housing discrimination and ensure equal access to housing opportunity for everyone in Oregon. Your support helps ensure everyone in Oregon can live wherever they choose, free from discrimination.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Allan Lazo, Executive Director

Tabling at Project Community Connect and Veterans Stand Down

Our Eastern Oregon Education & Outreach Specialist, Glenda Moyer, tabled with Home-4-Hope Coalition at a community outreach event in Pendleton this past October to bring resources and services to people without housing, people at risk of losing their housing, and veterans in Eastern Oregon.

Launching Our New Website

We completely redesigned our website this past November, increasing accessibility, making it easier to navigate, and improving the overall visitor experience. We also created new contact forms that connect users with the right staff member to meet their specific needs.
